joy michelle photography work space studio I think my office ideas began on pinterest, as many of my ideas seem to….(it’s a problem!!) I started collecting inspiration images of beautiful work spaces other creatives had made for themselves and it has grown from there. As I planned what I wanted for my space, I realized that I didn’t need to buy many furniture pieces or decor because I could use lots of what I already had– like my vintage film cameras and foil print cards I’d collected. The rest of the furniture I’ve slowly acquired over the past few years. The big computer desk, for example, my husband refinished last year by hand after my parents give it to us. It is an old library table that has been in my family for a while!

Oh my goodness…having a completely separate work space that reflects me, my business, and my goals has made a huge difference in my productivity when working from home. In fact, having a personalized workspace in general is proven to show greater work productivity and inspiration– you read about it here. I have found it to be true.

It’s so important to have a place, or even a corner, where creativity can flourish. One nice perk I’ve found is that when I’m working on a project or have documents and papers everywhere (which is most of the time!!) I can press pause on whatever I’m doing and come back to it at a later time. The best part? That project-in-progress doesn’t get in the way of my personal life by living in the middle of the kitchen counter or living room floor. Yay for a little work-life-separation!

OK, I’ll stop gabbing and get into the office tour, that is if you’re still with me and you haven’t skipped past this text already… 😉joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio This black shelf is the home to my branding/packaging elements like the giant roll of craft paper you see above. Also tucked in there are stamps, ribbon, stationery, and all the little details that go into the welcome packets for my brides.

Suggestions?!joy michelle photography work space studio joy michelle photography work space studio (C) Joy Michelle Photography 2014I want to encourage you to create a little work space for yourself where you can be free to work on projects, get creative and dream.
